Inbetweeners - 2025 Gatherings

In December, the Inbetweeners community—Christian creatives working in animation—came together in the Library at First Presbyterian Church Hollywood for an evening centered on sharing and celebrating creative projects.

Attendees had the opportunity to present their own animation work and creative endeavors, fostering a supportive environment where peers could encourage one another and offer prayer. Industry veteran guest speakers also joined the gathering, providing insight and inspiration to fuel the community’s artistic growth.

The night was a meaningful blend of creativity, faith, and fellowship—strengthening animators to pursue their calling with passion and purpose.

Our October Inbetweeners gathering brought together 11 attendees for one of our most creatively diverse meetings yet! Members shared an incredible range of projects—including a novel, an art booth pop-up, children’s books, and even a 2D animation.

Fellowship flourished over delicious California Chicken Cafe wraps, and the evening closed with meaningful one-on-one prayer time. It was an inspiring reminder of the unique gifts within our community and the power of creativity rooted in faith.

Our September Inbetweeners gathering was another great night of creativity, connection, and inspiration! The group came together to share updates, showcase projects, and cheer one another on during our 5-Minute Show & Tell Workshops.

As always, it was a supportive and energizing space—filled with encouragement, laughter, and plenty of fresh ideas. We’re so grateful for this creative community and can’t wait to see what everyone brings to the next meeting!

The Inbetweeners gathered on Tuesday, August 19th, for a time of fellowship, creativity, and prayer. Thirteen people attended, sharing a meal of California Chicken Cafe wraps before diving into an animation workshop. Screenwriter Patrick presented his pitch for a children’s animation with Minno Kids, Nate shared progress on his independent musical 3D animation project, and Charlotte, a recent Art Center graduate, showcased a portfolio of 3D modeling work. The group prayed over each of them, asking the Lord to bless the work of their hands. The evening closed with personal 1-on-1 prayer requests.

Eleven people attended this month’s Inbetweeners gathering, sharing fellowship over delicious California Chicken Cafe wraps. Sergio presented his beautiful illustrated Bible comic pages, and the group prayed over him and encouraged him to keep going. The evening wrapped with one-on-one prayer requests, creating space for personal connection and support.

Our June 17th Inbetweeners gathering was another inspiring night of creativity and collaboration! We came together to share projects, ideas, and works-in-progress as part of our ongoing 5-Minute Show & Tell Workshops.

Attendees showcased their work on the big screen—using the MacBook Pro setup and speakers provided—and the room was filled with encouragement, feedback, and creative energy. It was a great reminder of why these in-person gatherings matter: a space to grow, learn, and celebrate each other’s artistic journeys.

We just wrapped another great Christians in Animation "InBetweeners" Gathering in Los Angeles—and it was a beautiful blend of creativity, community, and Christ-centered encouragement! Eleven artists came together over delicious California Chicken Café wraps, sharing stories, industry experiences, and faith. A highlight of the evening was artist Andy Mandy’s presentation of his in-progress design for our new Inbetweeners banner—featuring a stunning walk cycle of Jesus drawn in the style of The Prince of Egypt!

We were also thrilled to welcome our youngest artist yet—10-year-old Jude—who confidently shared some of his original sketches with the group. We ended the night with heartfelt one-on-one prayer, leaving refreshed, inspired, and reminded that God is moving in the animation world.

The April in-person meeting of the Inbetweeners took place on Tuesday, April 15th from 6:30pm–9:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood Library.

This meeting will be our first INBETWEENERS SHOWCASE to celebrate the finished work of our members so hustle up and let me know if you plan to bring a finished project to share! Again, we won't be showing works-in-progress at this meeting. Bring only what you've finished recently--think of this as a Movie Premiere! This is also an excellent opportunity to invite family, friends, and colleagues to join in celebrating God's work in your life through your craft. You'll have access to our MacBook Pro, project screen, and speaker!

The 5-Minute Show & Tell last month was such a hit last month that we're going to do it again! So bring your laptop or hard drive and share your project on our projector and let's get to work making art for the kingdom. Again you'll have access to our MacBook Pro, project screen, and speaker!

Bring your laptop or sketchbook and let's get to work making art for the kingdom during our ANIMATION WORKSHOPS. We'll also be doing a quick Show & Tell session at the start of the meeting so I highly recommend you take advantage of that to share your work in front of the entire group. You're welcome to use our MacBook Pro and project screen!

Happy 2025! The first in-person meeting of the Inbetweeners took place on Tuesday, Jan. 21st from 6:30pm–9:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood Library.

Our meeting format has changed--we will now be facilitating PASSION PROJECT WORKSHOPS. So bring your laptop or sketchbook and let's get to work making art for the kingdom!

During our meetings we will now be splitting into small groups of 2-3 people where you can request support on your Passion Projects in the following four ways:
(1) Feedback (2) Brainstorming, (3) Strategizing, (4) Resource Sharing
