HPN’s Karen and Kaelyn, along with prayer leaders who have been meeting virtually to pray since March 2020, hosted our monthly VIRTUAL NIGHT OF PERSONAL PRAYER. Shun Lee Fong led worship over Zoom, and then each of our 22 attendees received at least one round of one-on-one prayer from an HPN prayer leader. The Lord moved powerfully to encourage industry professionals through prayer and worship. We plan to host these prayer nights once a month via Zoom, and then meet in coffee shops around Los Angeles once they start opening for indoor dining.

In the style of “Lectio Divina” or “Visio Divina,” Sister Nancy Usselman and Sister Rose Pacatte of the Pauline Center for Media Studies led a group of 30 participants through “Cinema Divina”: a time of mindfully watching a Sundance short film and then considering the spiritual themes through guided meditation and discussion. It was a wonderful time of reflecting on the importance of gratitude, peace and contentment with one’s life as it is, and then praying that God would grant us gratitude. The time concluded in a Q and A with the sisters, as we discussed spiritual themes in films in general.
Kaelyn, Danae and Karen hosted an intimate virtual Q & A for a select group of promising young leaders. Kaelyn moderated the time with Abby Lynn Kang Davis, a producer who works with first-time and underrepresented filmmakers. The time was informative and inspiring: Abby spoke about her heart for diversity in media, being a Christian in the entertainment industry, her career journey, and how to make it as a producer.

We were so grateful to have 20 of our Global Local Chapter Directors (LCDs) join us for our Zoom Coffee Hour Summit. We spent a quick 90 minutes getting to know the attendees, which were from eight different countries. It was such a treat! We also got to introduce our new volunteer Sara, who will be reaching out to our LCDs for interviews for our website!

Karen and Kaelyn hosted a virtual “happy hour” for 30 young industry professionals over Zoom. It was a fun time of connection, networking, talking about how God is working in our lives, music, and laughter. The group split into breakout rooms and played get-to-know-you games to cultivate a much-needed sense of community during a pandemic.
