Karen and Jim Covell are slowly introducing Dinners For Six again, and they are grateful to connect with some of the incredible friends in our industry in person, (in a socially distanced manner, of course)! A backyard fresh air dinner is perfect!
Karen had a great time teaching 16 women at THE WELL Zoom bible study on Friday, July 17th entitled, DISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE: Identify your personal mission and calling.
She taught how to find their own personal mission statement that they believe God has put them on this earth to live out and then live it out as the reason or purpose for their life. Karen says, “You can start to discover your purpose by either defining what you are passionate about and want to spend all your time doing or thinking about, or by what makes you particularly angry and you’re driven to do something to change it. And once you find your purpose, you can soar!”
Virginia Tucker hosted a virtual conversation with Brian Gillette of the School of Supernatural Ministry (SSM). Brian gave a talk on emotional health for creatives. Then participants were placed in Zoom breakout rooms to receive prayer from members of the SSM prayer ministry. It was a fruitful and encouraging time for industry professionals.
Community and events coordinator Virginia Tucker hosted a seminar with acting teacher (and HPN Local Chapter Director) Jency Hogan of Baton Rouge, LA. Virginia and Jency shared their wisdom with up-and-coming Christian actors on this Zoom call, discussing topics such as which roles to accept and how to build a good relationship with one’s agent.
HPN partnered with AbundantLifeU and financial and investment coach Kelvin Dickerson for a personal, virtual conversation about personal finance and biblical stewardship in a time of coronavirus. This provided practical resources for our community of entertainment industry professionals.
We had 175 participants from around the world join 13 HPN staff and local prayer leaders for an amazing hour of worship and prayer for the entertainment industry – all done over a Zoom video call!
The event was hosted by Karen Covell, Merlinda Balmas (HPN Hollywood Chapter director, 9t5 Marketplace) and Branden Stoltz (HPN Hollywood Chapter director) and featured presentations from Virginia Tucker (HPN Community & Events Coordinator), Dr. Naima Lett (HPN Beverly Hills Chapter director, Hope in the Hills Church), Dan and Peggy Rupple (Mastermedia International), Dean Batali (TV writer / showrunner), Caleb Monroe (IKON, RealityLA church), and Shun Lee Fong (The Greenhouse). Michelle and Dan Lutz (worship pastors, Expression58 church) led a powerful time of worship.
The evening closed with a time of fellowship between the Zoom participants, and then an After Party hosted by the HPN Hollywood Chapter.
Praise God for a fruitful event on the National Day of Prayer, not at all hindered by this time of social distancing.
During the time of social distancing and coronavirus, our community and events coordinator, Virginia Tucker, started hosting a weekly Monday Zoom prayer meeting, specifically for Hollywood entertainment professionals. Our first meeting was on May 4, and it was a fruitful, intimate time of prayer for the industry and for specific industry professionals. If you would like more info about future prayer meetings, please contact email@example.com.
On Thursday, April 16, founding director Karen Covell got a chance to encourage women virtually by joining the Influence Women Online Webinar. You can watch the full webinar, including Karen Covell’s speech and prayer, by clicking below:
