Madrid is Spain´s administrative, financial and transportation centre. It is a city of four million people and one of the most influential in Europe, famous for its historical landmarks, museums, art galleries, parks, monuments and buildings, as well as for it´s very active and exciting night life. It’s also a city in great need of contemporary art which not only enriches and enhances our appreciation of aesthetic beauty and celebrates the good things of our God given humanity, instead of the baser parts of our fallen nature. It needs art that can also confront the moral and spiritual decadence of our times which is becoming so evident in our homes, schools, universities and streets.

Hector & Lilli Ramírez, producing artistic directors of Aslan PAC, are artists with an extensive background and experience in theatre and dance as well as in missions through organizations like YWAM, Wycliffe Bible translators and others. They are committed wholeheartedly to seeing the Lordship of Christ established in the area of the arts and entertainment industry in Spain.

"My passion and calling is to the performing arts, theatre and dance. It is clear, as we look at our present situation in Spain and Europe, for that matter, that we are living in a post Christian society, in the midst of a culture that has already lost all interest in the need to have some kind of moral and spiritual values, and therefore is no longer able to discern between good and sound entertainment and something which is not even worth a minute of our time. The shallowness, frivolity and immorality which has been so much part of the popular media as well as the cultural and artistic movements of our time, has clearly contributed to the erosion of good values in modern European society. Nonetheless, we cannot deny the value of the arts and entertainment industry as catalysts for spiritual awakening and cultural reformation. We believe that as Christians we can be a living testimony of God’s presence in this much needed arena.
We, Aslan Performing Arts Centre, exist as a non-profit cultural organization based in Madrid, our purpose is to create and produce aesthetically meaningful and relevant works of art that can contribute to entertain, edify, educate and bring integration and harmony to our surrounding community as well as to the society as a whole."

Spain Update

We want to apologize for not showing any signs of life in
the last few months but we´ve been caught up in the swing of things as
we´ve been getting the whole project off the gound since
last summer. We surely appreciate your prayers and are so grateful for them as we´ve needed them now more than ever.
As always, God continues to show His grace, love and guidance in the
Aslan project. As you know we started with classes last summer and we
haven´t had a minute to stop since then, so to speak. The organization
of the classes, schedules, the teachers, the students, all the legal
aspects and the implementation of the Christian approach in all the
work are taking all of our time up till now. So, yes, we´re tired but
thankful and happy at seeing everything take place before our very eyes.
To our amazement we can tell you that right now we´ve got about 57 music students and 50 dance students,
all of them non-Christian people, with the exception of two or three.
More and more we´re convinced God´s called us to be a living testimony
of his life and presence through our lives and the creative gifts. Last
week we had the dedication ceremony where some pastor from the city
came and prayed for the work, it was a great and blessed time for us
all. We´re sending some pictures so you can see what´s going on.
We´ve got a few challenges before us as has been the case in the last
years with us and the Aslan project but are expectant as to what God´s
going to do to make things come about in every one of them. Right now
we´re in the midst of organizing our first summer camp for the whole
month of July and continue to establish all the different aspects of
the work. Lilli´s teaching about 20 hours a week, as well as doing some
of the administration work. Danny is taking part in some of the classes
and enjoying them, if you don´t remember he´s almost seven years old
now and growing. I´m getting the theatre classes going and doing most
of the administration work for now, until God provides somebody to do
it. We´ll, I´m going to share with you some of our prayer needs so you
can continue to up lift us before the throne of grace.
1- One of our main needs continues to be people:
-Music and dance teachers as well as a person for administration and a web and graphic designer, also.
2-Another one of our needs is prayer and
we don´t take this lightly. One of the most important lessons we´ve
been learning in this whole project is dependence on God, and of
course, to be able to walk in a daily dependence on Him we need grace,
strength and wisdom to not let anything, even the work, take the place
of our personal relationship with Him day after day as we see Him make
things come about. Part of this means being wise enough to be able to
keep our family time as one of our main priorities in the midst of all
the work and activities we´ve to attend to.
3-Please pray also that we´ll be able to listen to God every step of the way and let Him speak to us in every area of our lives and in every decissión we have to make and in every plan we´ve to design.
4-The other need continues to be our finances. The
support for us as a family is still very short though God´s never let
us down. So pray for this and if God leads you to contribute we´re
sending you our address so you can send any donations.
5-You can also pray for finances for the work:
We need materials such as music instruments, computers, furniture, salaries, etc. You can also contribute to our Inreach Program which is designed to reach
the underprivileged children and young adults that come from socially
and economically depressed situations. It is one of our goals to expose
them to artistic education and cultural events that would bring the
moral and spiritual values of Chritianity into their focus.
Well, this is it for now. Again we appreciate your prayers a whole lot
and and are so happy and glad to have you as part of the work God´s
